Rental Car Security Deposits in Dubai: How They Work

The security deposit is the #1 worry for Dubai car renters. Here’s exactly how it works with us — no fine print, no surprises.

How much is the security deposit?

The deposit depends on the car — supercars and flagship models carry higher deposits than luxury SUVs and sedans. We confirm the exact amount on WhatsApp before you book, so you always know upfront. There are no hidden additions later.

Is the deposit charged or blocked on my card?

Blocked, not charged. We place a pre-authorisation hold on your credit card — the money stays in your account but is reserved. It is released automatically after the hold period ends. (Note: some banks show holds as pending transactions; this is normal.)

When do I get my deposit back?

Within 15 to 21 working days after you return the car with no damage, unpaid Salik, or traffic fines. The timeline depends on your bank’s release process — the hold is lifted on our side immediately after the car is checked.

What can be deducted from my deposit?

Only three things, each with evidence provided to you: (1) damage beyond normal wear, assessed against our published damage price list with photos; (2) actual Salik crossings plus the stated admin fee; (3) traffic fines incurred during your rental. Nothing else. Ever.

How do I protect my deposit?

Three rules: photograph the car at handover (we do it together), report any issue on WhatsApp immediately with photos, and return the car with a full tank. Follow these and deposits come back clean — the vast majority of ours do.

Do I need a credit card, or is debit OK?

A credit card in the renter’s name is required for the deposit hold. Debit cards are generally not accepted for supercar deposits because holds behave differently across banks.
